Copaiba, an amazing gift from the Amazon

Copaiba is a beautiful essential oil with a mild, spicy and woody aroma. It is a resin tapped from the beautiful and amazing 100 foot tall Copaiba trees of the Amazon. Copaiba has been used for centuries by the natives of the amazon in their traditional medicine, and since the 1600's it has been used commercially in soaps, lotions and perfumes. So what makes this essential oil so amazing? Well it provides our bodies a plethora of benefits and support to nearly all our systems.

Copaiba Supports the following Systems in Our Bodies:

Immune,Endocrine, Cardiovascular, Respiratory, Nervous & Digestive!

It is a powerful antioxidant, soothes and protects nerves. It soothes anxious feelings, provides cellular support, is beautifying to the skin- it is antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and very healing, so it heals acne, heals scars, blisters and other skin issues. It is a very unique oil that has board effects on the body!

I had heard the stories of copaiba, and knew it was kind of like Frankincense, a special oil that truly supports our whole body. But last week I received an amazing report from a customer.

My customer is currently suffering with Shingles, and she said the worst part of the virus, was the excruciating nerve pain! She said she had tried just about every over the counter product available and received no true relief. Then her husband turned to her and asked the question all Wellness Advocates what to hear our customers asking themselves: "Is there an Oil for that?" ... Well Thank the heavens for copaiba, YES, Yes there is an oil for that!!!! She said "Turns out there is! I have put some Copaiba in a roller bottle and it will now go with me everywhere till the nerve pain is gone! So thankful you walked through the office door that day Stephanie Keenan Re! My life and health are changed forever."

So WHAT makes this oil so special???

Well, firsts off there is the doTERRA difference of quality, and potency. Our Copaiba is different than others on the market. We used 4 different species of Copaifera tree oils in our Copaiba.

1) Copaifera Officinalis 2) Copaifera Langsdorffii

3) Copaifera Reticulata 4) Copaifera Coriacea

We did this to create a distinctively unique synergy of chemistry and to create a complete profile that provides increased therapeutic potential & increased potency.

Copaibas main chemical property is Beta Caryophyllene (BCP). When BCP in copaiba attached to receptor sites in the immune system, a series of positive reactions occur in our bodies. Copaiba is one of the few essential oils that crosses the Blood Brain Barrier. Only essential oils high in sesquiterpenes can do this. Copaiba is 70-90% sesquiterpenes (they increase oxygen to cells). Frankincense only contains 8% sesquiterpenes!!!

What truly makes copaiba special, is that the BCP is a cannabinoid. Cannabinoids work directly through our endocannabinoid system by influencing our CB1 or CB2 receptors. Other cannabinoids you may be familiar with are THC & CBD oils. DoTERRA wanted to isolate an oil with good broad spectrum activity in the endocannabinoid system, without the unwanted outcomes of other cannabinoids.

The goal of the endocannibinoid system in our bodies, is to create homeostasis- balance in the body.

There are two types of cannabinoid receptors: CB1, which primarily impacts the brain and central nervous system. While the CB2, effects the endocrine system (glandular and chemistry systems of the body) & Immune systems. All Cannabinoids have benefits, but all work differently in the body.

CBD (CannaBiDiol)- is found in Hemp or cannabis. CBD, won't make you high or give you psychoactive, but it can still contain very low quantities of THC, thus you could test positive for a drug test (which is a problem in some states as well as professions!) Hemp CBD has a 1-3% concentration and Cannabis CBD can be up to 35% concentration. It does not work directly on CB receptors, but it works indirectly with our CB2 receptors. It helps with pain relief, Anxiety reduction, seizure treatment, neurological issues, lowers insulin and promotes cardiovascular health. The problem with CBD is it contains very small quantities, and quality varies so it is not always a beneficial level to effect the body.

THC (Tetra Hydro Cannabinol)- Found in cannabis. Heavily influences CB1 & CB2 receptors. It stimulates a psychoactive effects. Can be up to 35% concentration. Oils containing THC are illegal in some states.

It makes you feel high. It chemically resembles anandamine, a naturally occuring cannabinoid in our brains that regulates appetite, memory, mood and sleep. Which is why THC makes people feel relaxed and hungry.

BCP (BetaCaryoPhyllene)- DoTERRA's Copaiba contains 60% concentration. It doesn't interact with our CB1 receptors, so there is no psychoactive effects. There is direct interaction with CB2 receptors, creating very powerful and focused benefits in our bodies. It improves immunity, reduces inflammation, has strong antioxidant properties, promotes cellular health, and digestive health.

Other oils contain BCP, but Copaiba is different because of the high levels of BCP. The value of this oil is not just its purity, but its potency from the 4 species of copaifera blended to create this superior oil.
